Hi friends, Thank you all for visiting my website. Today's recipe is Palak Rice. In this post I am going to show you how to make palak rice. Palak fried rice is very easy simple. Palak rice is a simple one pot meal for lunch box. It is a flavorful rice can be served as it is, without any side dishes. The Palak rice is a favourite for kids lunch box and elders too as well.
Palak is another super food. Palak or spinach is a good source of nutrients and it is low in calories. It is another fiber rich food helps in digestion. Palak helps in strengthening bone helath. It also helps in controlling diabetes. So let us try to include it in our regular diet as frequently as possible.

Palak Rice

Palak Rice -- One pot flavourful meal for lunch box.

Ingredients:
  • 2 Cups Basmati Rice
  • 2 Cups Palak
  • 2 Medium size Onions
  • 100 Grams Paneer
  • 1/2 Cup Green Peas
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 Green Chillis
  • 5 to 7 Cloves
  • 4" Long Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Ghee

  • Procedure:
    1. Wash and soak rice for half an hour.
    2. Wash and Chop palak.
    3. Slice onions and slit chillis.
    4. In a wide pan boil water and add chopped palak.
    5. Allow this to cook for 2 minutes.
    6. Drain excess water and let it cool for a while.
    7. Add the blanched palak to a blender jar and blend it to make a smooth paste.
    8. Keep it aside.
    9. Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker or electric rice cooker.
    10. Add whole masala, cloves and cinnamon stick.
    11. Saute them till they pop up.
    12. Add sliced onions and green chillis.
    13. Fry the onions till they turn translucent.
    14. Add ginger garlic paste, and fry again for 2 minutes.
    15. Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix them well.
    16. Add the palak paste and fry till the raw smell goes off.
    17. Add garam masala and coriander powder. mix them well.
    18. Add 4 cups of water to the above palak mix.
    19. for 1 cup rice add 2 cups of water, here I took 2 cups of rice so I am adding 4 cups of water.
    20. Add paneer and green peas. Mix them well.
    21. You can change the above measurements according to number of people you are serving.
    22. Cover the pressure cooker with lid. Or if you are using electric rice cooker cover it and keep it in cook mode.
    23. Cook for 2 whixtles in high flame and 1 whilste in low flame.
    24. Allow this to cool completley and mix well with a spatula.
    25. If you are using electric rice cooker, cook till it turns to warm mode.
    26. Serve palak rice with curd chutney or as it is.
