Tomato chutney street style -- tastes good with idli and dosa.
Ingredients:
- 8 Medium size Tomatoes
- 5 Green Chillis
- 2 Red Chillis
- Salt to Taste
- 1 Tsp turmeric powder
- 1 Tbsp Oil
- 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 Tsp Black Gram/Urad Dal
- Fistful of Coriander Leaves
- Pebble size Tamarind.
Procedure:
- Wash and cut tomatoes into pieces.
- Make pieces of green chillis.
- Heat oil in a kadai.
- Add mustard seeds and black gram.
- When they start spluttering add tomatoes, green chillis and red chillis.
- Add salt and turmeric powder.
- Add tamarind and coriander leaves too.
- Let the tomatoes cook softly and become mushy.
- The water in tomatoes should not be evaporated completely.
- Allow the tomatoes to cool.
- Add this tomato and green chillis mixture to the blender jar.
- Grind it to make a smooth paste.
- Add water and againd grind it to get watery consistency.
- Heat oil in a small kadai, add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
- Once they start spluttering add this tadka to the above prepared chutney.
- Serve tomato chutney street style with idli or dosa.
