Sabudana Vada | Sabudana Vada Recipe | How to make Sabudana Vada | (evening snacks recipe)

Hi friends, thank you all for visiting my website and @EATeasyvegrecipes youtube channel. Today's recipe is sabudana vada. Sabudana is called saggubiyyam in Telugu. Sabudana contains a high amount of carbohydrates, making it a fast energy booster. We usually make fryums with sabudana. And also sabudana kheer. Sometimes we make sabudana khichdi too. It is the dish of choice when an individual observe a "fast" during Shivratri, Navratri, or any other Hindu religious occasion. It is typically prepared in Indian states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.Sabudana vada is also considered as fast recipe only. But in my house we do not eat anything cooked during fast. So I prepare it as an evening snack to be served with tea. Sabudana vada is a Maharashtra recipe made from tapioca pearls, mashed potatoes and crushed peanuts and spices. Sabudana vada is a deep-fried fritters. It is the authentic sabudana vada recipe, I learned it from cousin. Aloo sabudana vada recipe often served with green chutney or tomato ketch up.

Sabudana Vada Recipe


Sabudana Vada -- made during festival fasting and served with hot cup of tea and spicy green chutney.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Cup Sabudana/ Saggubiyyam
  • 1/4 Cup Peanuts
  • 2 to 3 Green Chillis
  • 3" Long Ginger
  • 1 Potato
  • Salt to Taste
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • Oil for frying
Procedure:
  1. Soak sabudana for 4 to 5 hours.
  2. It can be soaked overnight also.
  3. Boil potato and mash it well.
  4. Chop green chillis, ginger and coriander leaves. Keep aside.
  5. Dry roast peanuts and remove the skin.
  6. Grind them coarsely. Keep them aside.
  7. In a wide mixing bowl add all the ingredients one after the other.
  8. Soaked sabudana, coarsely grinded peanuts, ginger, green chilli and coriander leaves.
  9. Add salt and cumin seeds.
  10. And lastly add lemon juice and mix all of them gently.
  11. Once all of them combined well, start kneading it gently.
  12. Knead it till it form a small ball.
  13. Once the sabudana vada dough mixed well to form a firm vada.
  14. Make all the dough into vadas.
  15. Keep them ready.
  16. Heat oil in a kadai.
  17. The oil should not be too hot.
  18. Drop each vada into the hot oil.
  19. Allow them to cook for a minute in low flame only.
  20. Slowly turn them after a minute only.
  21. Once the sabudana vada turn golden brown, transfer them onto a kitchen towel.
  22. Repeat the same with all of the them.
  23. Serve sabudana vada with green chutney or sauce.
