Tomato Perugu Pachadi

  • 6 medium Tomatoes
  • 1 Cup Curd
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Sugar
  • 2 Green Chillis
  • 4 to 5 Curry Leaves
  • 1/4 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Tsp Oil
  • 1/4 Tsp Hing/Asafoetida
  • Fistful of Coriander Leaves
  1. Cut tomatoes into four parts. Slit green chillis.
  2. Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds.
  3. When they started spluttering add curry leaves and slit green chillis.
  4. Add tomatoes, saute them for a while.
  5. Add salt, turmeric powder and sugar.
  6. Combine them well.
  7. Allow the tomatoes to cook completely. This may take 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. Once the tomatoes become soft and mushy switch off the flame and cool them.
  9. Let the cooked tomatoes cool completely.
  10. Whisk curd and add it to the cooked tomatoes.
  11. Combine the curd and tomatoes well.
  12. Serve tomato perugu pachadi with roti or rice.
