Fried chana dal or chana dal recipe is a very interesting snack. I tried this recipe because of kids like them very much. They always want to buy the packed chana dal from a grocery store, but I don't like they eating packaged food. So, want to give a try. Simple and easy evening snacks recipe made with Bengal gram. Serve it with a hot cup of tea. I used a stainless steel juice strainer, but we get a perforated vessel specially meant for frying these kind of dals.
Fried Chana Dal - Best tea time snacks
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Bengal Gram/Chana Dal
- Oil for Frying
- Salt to Taste
- 1 Tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 Tablespoon Garam Masala
Procedure:
- Wash and Soak bengal gram for half an hour to one hour.
- Drain the dal and leave it to dry for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a kadai to fumes. Reduce the heat.
- To fry the chana dal in hot oil, I use stainless steel juice strainer or a ladle attached with a colander. specially made to use deep frying dals.
- Fry the chana dal in batches, in medium flame. Stirring continuously.
- Fry till chana dal turn into golden color.
- Remove from heat and drain excess oil on kitchen towel.
- Add in salt, red chilli powder and garam masala. Mix them well.
- Serve fried chana dal snack with a hot cup of tea.
