Sojji Pulihora -- Rice Rawa Pulihora

Sojja or Sojji pulihora is made with rice rawa. Now a days we are getting rice rawa in the stores, earlier it was not like that, we have to prepare it before hand at home only. So, now we can make any recipe with rice rawa easily.  It tastes like pulihora only. But it has a accompaniment which the normal pulihora do not have. A very simple dish.

Rice Rawa - 1 cup
Water - 2 cups
Salt - to taste
Tamarind Pulp(thick)- 1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Green Chillies - 5 to 7
Curry Leaves - 7 to 9
Ginger - 2 inches long

For Tempering:

Oil - 3 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
Black Gram - 1 tbsp
Bengal Gram - 1 tbsp
Red Chillies - 2
Asfoetida - 1 tsp

Boil water in a thick bottomed vessel. Add 1 table spoon of oil to it. Then add rice rawa to the boiling water stirring continuously. Turn the stove to lower flame. Cover it and allow it to cook. It will take minimum of 10 to 15 minutes, some times it may take more time also. It depends on the form of rawa. But do not add more water to cook. Once done, spread it in a wide plate to cool down.
Meanwhile make arrangements for making pulihora. Slit the green chillies, chop ginger.
Heat oil in wok. Add all the ingredients under the heading 'For Tempering'.
When they start spluttering add green chillies, ginger and curry leaves. Fry them for a while then, add tamarind pulp. Add salt, Turmeric Powder and asafoetida.
Allow this to boil and let all the water in the tamarind juice evaporate. And also let it leaves oil.
Add this tamarind pulp to the above boiled rice rawa. Mix well with the spatula. So that entire tamarind pulp mixes with the rawa. That's all rice rawa pulihora or sojji pulihora is ready to serve. Serve sojji pulihora with pachchi pulusu.
