Majjiga Charu

Majjiga Charu is typical Andhra dish. It goes very well with rice. It is different from majjiga pulusu. It is another yogurt based dish and can be prepared very fast. Much ingredients are not required to make this dish, only onions and little yogurt or buttermilk are enough.

Buttermilk/Yogurt - 2 cups
Onions - 2 medium
Green Chillies - 1 or 2
Curry Leaves - 3 to 5
Salt - to taste
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Red Chillies - 1

Chop onions and slit green chillies. We can chop green chillies also.
Heat oil in a kadai.
Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chillies. Once they start spluttering add curry leaves, chopped onions and green chillies.
Fry them for a while. Let the onions soften.
Cook onions till the raw smell of onions goes off.
Once the onions softens remove it from fire and allow it to cool.
Add yogurt or thick buttermilk as soon as the onions cools. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix it well.
As I said majjiga charu is easy to make and ready to serve. Serve it with rice.
