Tomato Rasam -- How to make Tomato Rasam -- Tomato Chaaru

Tomato rasam is a very simple, easy and tasty dish to make. This is the season for nice juicy and tangy tomatoes. Make best use of them by preparing Chutney,Tomato Chutney, Dal (Pappu), Avakaya, Puree, Toamto Soup, Tomato Masala Curry, Tomato curry and Chaaru. 
This is recipe I have learned from one of my friend, her mother is very famous in making different kinds of rasams though she is Telugu.


Tomatoes/Tomato Puree - 1 cup
Tamarind Juice - 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Red Chilli Powder - 1/1 tbsp
Onion - 1 small
Garlic Cloves - 5 to 8
Curry Leaves - 7 to 9
Coriander Leaves - fist ful
For Tadka:
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Red Chillies - 1


Chop onion, Garlic.
Make tomato puree. Mix tomato puree with the tamarind juice. 
heat oil in a kadai add all the ingredients under 'For Tadka' except curry leaves and coriander leaves. 
Add onions and garlic. Fry them for a while. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
Add the tomato puree and tamarind mix. 
Bring it to rolling boil. When the rasam is boiling add curry leaves and coriander leaves. 
Serve tomato rasam with hot piping rice.
