Benne Dosa/Venna Dosa

This recipe is special to Davanagere a place in the State of Karnataka in South India. When my parents were residing there my mom learned this. So I copied it from her :P. People with lot of health and calorie conscious cannot enjoy this. 

Ingredients:

Black Gram - 1 cup
Rice - 3 cups
Puffed Rice - 1 cup
Maida - 1 tbsp
Cooking Soda - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Butter/Benne/Venna/Oil - for making dosas (we can use cooking butter)

Procedure:

Soak black gram, rice and puffed rice separately for 6 hours. 
First grind black gram to a fine paste. Then grind rice and puffed rice also to a fine paste. Add both of them and again grind them for 5 minutes. 
Allow this batter to ferment to 8 to 10 hours. 
An hour before making dosas add cooking soda. Dilute the batter to pouring consistency by adding required amount of water. 
Heat the dosa pan/tawa. Pour the dosa batter with the help of laddle and spread it with the help of pan itself. Do not use laddle to spread. If it is not possible with tawa, then only use laddle and spread very lightly. Drop 1 tsp benne/venna/butter and cook dosa on one side and flip it and cook for half a minute. Serve it with a block of butter on top of it. Serve it with aloo mash and coconut chutney. 
*Those who should not eat butter can avoid it and can cook it with cooking oil.
