Chakkara Pongal/Sweet Pongal

 Chakkera pongali, sweet pongali is a rice sweet recipe. Normally this one prepared during the Pongal or Sankranthi days and also during Navratri days.

Ingredients:

Rice-1 cup
Moong Dal-1/2cup
Chana Dal-1tbsp
Sugar-to taste
Ghee-4 or 5 tbsp 
Milk-500ml
Water-500ml
Cashew Nuts-2tbsp
Dry coconut Pieces-1tbsp
Raisin-1tbspl
Cardamom Powder-1tsp

Procedure:

Heat ghee in a thick bottomed vessel. Roast moong dal, chana dal and rice. Normally I do not roast too much as the taste changes. If we want we can roast till the color changes, but take care of not to burn. 
Add milk and water. Let the rice boil. 
Cook the rice only in low flame as it will burn very fast. Stir occasionally. If the rice is sticking to the bottom of the vessel, stir it continuously. Add water if required. Cook till the rice is soft and the mixture become thick. Once rice is cooked completely (we can check that by pressing two or more rice grains with our fingers.) switch off the stove or we can simply remove it from the stove and add sugar. 
Add sugar till we get the sweet aroma from rice. Add cardamom powder and mix it again. 
Heat ghee in another kadai fry cashew nuts, dry coconut pieces and raisins. Add this to the above rice mixture and mix well.
