Curry Leaves Powder Recipe -- How to make Karivepaaku Podi

Hi, Good Morning. Thank you friends and viewers. Today I will post on how to make karivepaku podi recipe.
It is a powder with curry leaves and some spices. It improves digestion. We can take the powder directly.When we feel discomfort in the stomach or any indigestion problem, have it in the hot piping rice with a spoon full of ghee with the morsel.
Some people like to have a side dish with idli. I have added garlic cloves, but some people do not add them.

Karivepaku Podi

  • 2 Cups Curry leaves
  • 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper Seeds
  • 1 Tablespoon Coriander Seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Tamarind
  • Salt to Taste
  • 1 Teaspoon Ghee
  • 5 to 7 Garlic Cloves(optional)
  1. Discard the curry leaves from the stem. Wash and dry them in the shade.
  2. Roast black pepper seeds, coriander seeds and tamarind. Keep them aside.
  3. Heat ghee in the same pan and fry curry leaves. Fry them till the moisture of the leaves goes off and they become crispy.
  4. Allow all the ingredients to cool.
  5. Add all the ingredients except curry leaves and garlic to blender jar.
  6. Grind them to make fine powder.
  7. Add curry leaves to it and grind it fine powder.
  8. If adding garlic cloves, add them at this stage.
  9. Lastly add garlic cloves to it and press whip or pulser in the blender.
  10. Spread this powder in a wide plate. Add salt to it.
  11. Mix it well and store in an air tight container.
  12. It can be stored for a period of 2 to 3 months.
  13. Serve karivepaku podi with hot piping rice.
